The Stakeout was the 116th overall episode of Sanford and Son. Also the fifth episode of Season Six, it first aired on NBC-TV on October 15, 1976.
The police are looking for a fence named Alex Hacker, who's been spotted coming in and out of The Sanford Arms. They use Fred and Lamont's home to stakeout the Arms. Meanwhile, Fred has a crush on a new lady tenant.
Alex Hacker, a criminal wanted for fencing stolen goods, and whom the police was trying to stakeout in the Sanford Arms. Charles Weldon appeared in this episode in the dual role Hacker and as his alias, Miss Wallace, whom Hacker was appearing in drag as, Fred gets completely smitten with her/him, not knowing that Miss Wallace is really Hacker in hiding! When a reward of $1,000 is promised to whoever helps capture Hacker, Bubba beats Fred to the reward by also appearing in drag at a department store!
