The Director was the 108th overall episode of Sanford and Son. Also the 21st episode of Season Five, it first aired on NBC-TV on February 27, 1976.
Starstruck Fred assumes the director's chair when the champ George Foreman comes to star in a play for Lamont's theater workshop.
Fred expresses indifference when his son Lamont gets involved with a local acting workshop. But Fred quickly changes his tune when he learns that one of the workshop actors is boxing champion George Foreman (as himself). This explains why Fred shows up at the theater, preparing to make his directorial debut (Orson Welles has nothing to worry about). Note: Adam Wade appears as Mr. Creely, the actors workshop director, George Wiltshire appears as Elroy Pitt, and Dave Turner makes an appearance as Eugene.
