The Card Sharps was the 20th episode of Sanford and Son. Also the sixth episode of the series' second season, it premiered October 27, 1972. The episode was based on and adapted from "Full House", a 1963 episode of the British TV sitcom series Steptoe and Son by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson
Lamont won't heed Fred's warnings that he's being played for a sucker by some canny card sharp hustler types by the names of Skeeter Matthews (Thalmus Rasulala), Rooster (David Moses in his 2nd and final S&S appearance) and Hucklebuck (Ron Glass of Barney Miller TV series fame, in his first of 2 appearances).
When Fred, who sends Lamont, who was getting cheated at poker, to the supermarket to get some more beer, he manages to win back all of Lamont's money,. his card buddie's cash, as well as the flashy clothes off of their backs; it turns out that Fred, who discovered that the guys were dealing from the bottom of the deck; he manages to turn the tables with some see-thru bifocals which enabled him to see the other side of every card which was dealt!
