The Barracuda was the tenth episode of Sanford and Son. It premiered March 17, 1972. Based on "The Stepmother", a 1963 episode of the British series Steptoe and Son which was written by series creators Ray Galton and Alan Simpson.
Fred's in love and engaged to be married, but not if Lamont can help it. Widow Donna Harris, a private homecare nurse who also works at the nearby hospital, intends, with elderly junkman Fred, who she has been dating for some weeks, to eventually march together down the altar; on a drive-in movie date, Fred presents her with an engagement ring. Describing Donna as "the Barracuda," when Fred breaks his engagement plans to him, the peeved Lamont (Demond Wilson), does everything he can to break up the geriatric romance.
Note: Lynn Hamilton makes her first appearance as Donna on the series.
