Sanford and Son retro Wiki Script

Lynn Hamilton (born April 25, 1930) played the role of Donna Harris, Fred Sanford's girlfriend and later fiancee who was a licensed practical nurse on Sanford and Son. A gifted veteran actress, Lynn, a native of Yazoo City, Mississippi, made her film debut in John Cassavetes' directed Shadows (1959).

Lynn is perhaps best known for her role as "Donna Harris", a licensed practical nurse and Fred's girl on Sanford and Son, from 1972 to 1977. As the Fred Sanford's girlfriend and fiancee, Donna usually took care of Fred Sanford, as well as the patients which she was assigned to care for at the hospital where she worked and the home patients which she regularly visited. Although their first meeting was not shown on the series, apparently they had been dating for only a little while, and apparently very long after they began dating they got engaged, becoming Fred's fiancee, to Lamont's initial chagrin.

In addition to her work on Sanford And Son, Hamilton also had a recurring role as "Verdie" on The Waltons, and made numerous appearances on such television sitcoms, soap operas and miniseries such as 227, Dangerous Women, Generations, Port Charles and Roots: The Next Generations. She also appeared in an episode of The Golden Girls as the aunt of Lorraine, whom Dorothy's son Michael was planning to marry.
