Home Sweet Home for The Aged was the 35th episode of Sanford and Son. Also the 21st episode of the series' second season, it premiered February 16, 1973.
Before setting off to sail the world aboard a tramp steamer, Lamont must convince Fred to move into a retirement home. It isn't long before Lamont regrets this move, but it is up to Fred's pal Bubba (Don Bexley) to bring father and son back together. The episode was based on "Homes Fit for Heroes", a 1964 episode of Steptoe and Son, the British series forerunner to Sanford and Son, by creators Ray Galton and Alan Simpson.
