Hal Cooper (born February 23, 1923 in Ney York City, New York) directed two episodes of Sanford and Son; "Hello Cousin Emma, Goodbye Cousin Emma", and"The Way to Lamont's Heart" both in Season 3. Hal has directed over 40 television series, which include his directing work on Sanford and Son, ABC's The Brady Bunch, CBS's Maude and One Day At A Time, many of which he wrote and produced, as well, such as CBS's Maude, the NBC-TV sitcoms Empty Nest and Dear John. Cooper started out in show business as a child actor on radio, and got his first chance to direct at the early age of 13 on the set of the radio program Rainbow House.
