When Donna brings by the spry and sophisticated Osgood, who, being the virile smooth-talker, he wastes no time in making Fred, who quickly becomes jealous of Donna's attention upon him, look like a washout by comparison.
When Osgood asks "What's your game, Sanford?", Fred, not knowing what he's referring to, answers "Quino!" When he tries to clarify his question to Fred, "I mean, what do you do?" Fred says he's coordinator -- when Osgood asks "Well, what do you coordinate -- Objet d'art?", Fred responds "That's right, junk!" When Osgood, who's quite a fine wine connisuer, samples the taste of the Sherry Fred brought out, he sniffs it for the "aroma", he describes it as "Nice and fruity!" as Fred responds "Fruity? Lamont, did you wash the jelly out of these glasses?"
On the verge of almost punching Wilcox before the rump roast is served, Fred is halted in his tracks when Donna reveals that Osgood is really sick! When Donna takes Fred's hand before going into the kitchen to check on the dessert, a very jealous Fred says to Osgood "Did you see that?" as Osgood responds "Did I see what?", and he says "How she took my hand!" when Osgood replies "She took mine too.", Fred says, "Yeah, but she squeezed mine. She took your pulse!"
To try to prove how fit that he is, Osgood, falls down to the floor, picks up one of the dining chairs by one of the legs with one hand, while lighting and then smoking a cigarette in the other!
A seemingly unimpressed Fred then challenges Osgood to arm-wrestle -- when he loses badly, Osgood, confident that Donna's affections are still for him, but more than as a concerned nurse, says to Fred about his "qualifications" in dating Donna was "wanting" in his eyes; when he asks Fred "do you wish for me to clarify?", a now angry Fred responds "Would you like one across your lips?"
