Carol was the 121st overall episode of Sanford and Son. Also the 10th episode of Season Six, it first aired on NBC-TV on November 26, 1976.
Fred's old friend Carol shows up after 40 years, stirring up memories and sparking a flashback to the Summer of 1936 when Fred was a pool hustler in Cleveland.
Is Fred telling the truth when he fails to recognize Carol (Spo-De-Odee), a woman who claims she knew him 40 years ago? For once, the redoubtable Mr. Sanford is telling the truth -- he is drawing a complete blank when it comes to Carol, who turns out to be a guy which he knew from his days in Cleveland, who held up a bank with a bank note (put your money in this brown piper bug...or I'll short your herd off! Apparently he could'nt spell!) while Fred was making his annual Christmas deposit of $25. When recognition finally dawns, however, Fred is forced to confront his long-ago "involvement" in a criminal activity.
