Carlotta, upon meeting Fred when Julio drops by with her and her son Roberto, immediately starts cleaning house; when Lamont tries to tell her through Julio that Fred does all the housework, Fred stops him and tells her, "That's good...don't stop, honey, pick that paper up right there!" When the school principal of the school Roberto, who just moved to L.A. from Puerto Rico tells Carlotta, who only understands some English, that Roberto, who is in the fourth grade may have to be held back a grade because of the language barrier although he is bilingual, she is able, albeit by begging, to enlist Fred to talk to the principal and get him to tutor her son.
