Brother, Can You Spare an Act? was the 93rd overall episode of Sanford and Son. Also the sixth episode of Season Five, it first aired October 17, 1975.
When Fred's white brother-in-law Rodney lands a job emceeing a local vaudeville revival, Fred, Lamont and Smiley Rogers help out by providing the song and dance.
Forced to play host to his unemployed white brother-in-law Rodney Victor (Allan Drake), Fred Sanford (Redd Foxx) is fed up with Rodney's obnoxious practical jokes. Finally deciding that if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, Fred suggests that he and Rodney work up a nightclub routine. The ultimate strategy is to get Rodney to work and out of the house, but things don't quite turn out that way. Note: Former Gong Show TV game show host Chuck Barris guest appears as himself, Jack Somack as "Gabey", Grady's counterpart,Timmie Rogers appears as Smiley Rogers and Mary Alice returns as Alice, Fred's Sister. Willie "Dap" Sugar also appears as a Theatre Manager.
