"The Big Party" "Lamont Goes African"

The Big Party was the 29th episode of Sanford and Son. Also the 16th episode of the series' second season, it premiered January 12, 1973. .


While on a tour with Lamont of NBC Studios in Burbank, fast-thinking Fred, who stumbles upon Lena Horne's guest dressing room while touring The Tonight Show set, he fools Lena Horne into visiting the Sanford home after he spins her a sob story about little lame Lamont who looks upon Lena as a second mother. Lena has no idea that Fred intends to charge admission to his pool room buddies, which include Leroy, Skillet and Luther (John Amos) when she shows up for her "personal appearance".
